Festive Umbrella

A heap of stuff was just posted to Umbrella Market in time for the holidays. A small amount of the Lodown issue that Matt Irving & Don Pendleton designed is now available for the non-Europeans who can't get their hands on that magazine. |

Winter Wonderland
It's winter time and we're looking forward to some snow, but it's definitely not going to happen in SF. Here's a t-shirt for Crownfarmer that is only available for the next 25 days. It's our attempt at a corporate identity for a fake ski-hill. Can't wait for the Volkswagen lawsuit to come knocking. This one is for Bob K though and he drives a VW, so those dudes can step off. He's already paid them the royalties they deserve. |

Phantismes
OK, more Niall and Lukas news! This Friday in Toronto, our Fighting boys will present Fantisms at the Winter Gallery (ie. their backyard). It'll be seriously epic: giant collages (8-16 feet tall, mounted on posts to make them even taller!) will surround the viewer from all angles. Keeping everyone warm will be a big barrell fire and an even bigger booze jacket (I think free? BYOB is a safe bet at any rate). While potentially terrifying, there promises to be plenty of good cheer on offer, so don't be afraid. Come on out: 2 Rusholme Dr. (at Dundas adjecent Beaconsfield). Here's the google map, 's easy to find. 8-10PM. It's an opening, remember? Don't show up at 2. ![]() |

Sorry for the...

Grotesk...

Sony Bravia
A while ago we did a post about the Sony Bravia bouncy balls commercial directed by Nicolai Fuglsig. Well, Bravia has successfully "one-upped" themselves with their new commercial directed by Jonathan Glazer using paint. The best part is the rain drops changing color at the very end. Watch the behind the scenes feature so you can calm your nerves if all that toxic paint gets you stressed out. It's 70,000 liters but it's all environmentally friendly. It's nice to see something real in a time when everything cool looking is computer generated. |

Fighting & Robin Nishio
Our good pals at Fighting are busy as usual, this time they teamed up with Robin Nishio to create an instalation in Toronto where the new Adidas store is being built. Just a month ago they were doing some installations for a Nike Halloween thingy-ma-jigg. Yeah fancy pants Niall and Lukas! |
Burton & Volvo...
...have joined forces to create a concept car. It's probably not something that could be bought, but if it doesn't have seat warmers then the employees of both companies should be fired. As for the custom made Toyo tires... they're not exactly looking so good for plowing through the snow. Just being honest here. |

Even the robots have gotten into the fixed-gear phenomenon. This is real, not computer generated. |

Good Logo Dot Com
I don't know if it's fair to say that Stussy has the best logo of all. Sure it's nice, but there's no way it's better than UPS, CBS, The National Film Board, World Wildlife Fund, Woolmark, and a million other classics. Take the logo rating test yourself. But yeah, Stussy does have dam fine logo. |

Skater Dater
The first time I saw this movie from 1965 was about 7 years ago and it was on 16mm. I've tried to find it in the past and never had any luck, but Skate Daily tracked it down. I'm pretty sure that this is only half of the film, because I remember that the blonde haired kid starts dating the chick with the bike. Then all of his buddies want to kick his ass because he sold-out for a dame. Not much has changed since. ...and here's a 1966 classic called "The Devil's Toy" from the National Film Board of Canada. |

Remember Apple's Think Different campaign from the 90's by TBWA/Chiat/Day? They also did the 1984 commercial directed by Ridley Scott that aired during the Superbowl. Double-Plus Good. |

Parra

This guy is awesome, as is the company that he does a lot of work for, Rockwell. Maybe he owns it? I don't know, but I do know that I saw an ad campaign in Paris this summer for Heineken that he did. Really nice stuff but I guess it raised a bit of stink amungst his fans. They must not like beer; all straight-edge dudes or something. Weird. |
